COMYA is the acronym for Culture Of Montserrat Yard Association (or Activities). The purpose of the Association is mainly to encourage the residents of Montserrat to develop indigenous industries from items grown on Montserrat and to give artists and bands the opportunity to showcase their talents.
Our next event is slated for Sunday, the 20th of March, 2011 at Woodlands Beach. This will take the form of a Goat water competition featuring 13 cooks ($500 prize).
Also, stalls would be set up for persons to sell their products while patrons would be entertained by steel pan, string band and the masquerades. The charges for these are $150, $150 and $300 respectively.
A fashion show featuring the work of local fashion designers will also take place.
We hope that these events will birth new entrepreneurial skills and form new bands which, in time, will result in the prosperity and enjoyment of locals and tourists alike.
For this reason, we would be most grateful if you would kindly consider helping me by giving me names of relevant persons I can contact to donate a contribution to offset the expenses of the events.
Thank you.
Yours truly,
COMYA
